Dr Carol Mayes

Dr Carol Mayes

Veterinary Director

Carol has worked at this clinic since 2006 and has strong emotional ties to this veterinary practice due to the wonderful clients and pets she has met over the years. Some of these pets are our special oldies that were puppies and kittens when she first started working here. Providing care to “oldies” is a particular favourite of Carol’s.

She is also passionate about pet emotional wellbeing as well as their physical health. As a team, we do everything we can to make the experience of the veterinary clinic as gentle and fear-free as possible. Over time, this concern about pets mental health and wellbeing resulted in her doing extra study and sitting examinations in animal behaviour. She now has a membership (recognition of a special interest and extra knowledge) in animal behaviour. We offer longer consultations and a holistic approach to behaviour problems so feel free to give us a call if you have any behaviour concerns.

Carol and Matt have 2 sons, Finn and Austin, a naughty whippet called Juno, as well as a cat who was originally a Mount Barker stray brought into the vet clinic, called Billy. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, medicine, surgery and dentistry and looks forward to meeting you and your pets.
